At the tip of the Maddalena Peninsula, the white lighthouse from 1859 watches over the point where the Plemmirio sea meets the open sea. It can be reached by a walk through the Mediterranean scrub and the natural pools carved into the rock; at sunset and on starry nights, it is one of the most romantic places in Syracuse. Here, British troops also landed on the night of Operation Husky (July 1943).
