The sixteenth-century collegiate church in the historic center is built over a paleochristian basilica, and in its underground it holds Atripalda's most precious treasure: the Specus Martyrum, the crypt-cemetery that preserves the relics of Saint Hippolytus — martyred around 304 A.D. under Diocletian — and about twenty other martyrs from ancient Abellinum. A place of faith and history of rare charm, listed among the Places of the Heart of FAI.
