Castello di Gangi

Castello di Gangi — Gangi

The Gangi Castle was built between the end of the 13th century and the early decades of the 14th century by Enrico Ventimiglia and was likely completed by his nephew Francesco I Ventimiglia, Count of Geraci and Lord of Gangi. The castle was not a regular residence for the Ventimiglia family, who preferred their homes in Geraci and Castelbuono. The building, very similar to that of Castelbuono, belonged to the Ventimiglia family until 1625, when it passed into the possession of the Graffeo family and a few years later to the Valguarnera family.
