The Elephant Fountain is a monumental work, created between 1735 and 1737 by the architect Giovanni Battista Vaccarini, located in the center of Piazza del Duomo in Catania. Its main element is a statue made of black basalt depicting an elephant, popularly known as U’Liotru, which is considered the emblem of the Sicilian city.
